Yeah, I may have the same problem as you. My XV500 (1984) has an idle problem, not like yours, however when I got it, it was around 1500, and now it’s somewhat over 1000, however on occasion it stalls at idle. I think my front cylinder is screwed or something. On occasion if I ride for a while, it’ll cut out (or at least I think it does). I’ll dont have power or torque, and have to keep the revs high so it doesn’t stall (that means coasting through stop signs haha). I don’t know what’s wrong with it at all, this is a peculiar bike. My mechanic told me the carb design is really messed up. Does anybody know anything about these bikes? (motorcyclesurvey.com)
I ordered the one w/o flanges for my daughters 2003 Ford concentrate LX SOHC 2. 0L that requires welding. I figured I could save $120 by welding it myself with my mig welder. It is not an exact fit although. On this product the in port and out port are 180 degree out, like a regular muffler. The OEM product on the out board side is really at a 45 degree angle. I may have still used it, however it obliged some jimmy rigging and will hang a little lower under the car. So check the fit before going through all the trouble to take off. I am going to just use up the extra $120 to get with flanges for an exact fit. (shop.advanceautoparts.com)
